WHO
WE ARE
The Paperbark Wellness Project (PWP) is a long-term not-for-profit project founded in the South West of Western Australia by the Holistic Health Practitioner Network Inc. (HHPN) in 2018 to make wellness and connection a vital part of our community through a heart-centred approach to mental health. It designs, delivers, hosts and supports community programs that are person-oriented, emotionally focused and heavily weighted towards prevention, early intervention and awareness-raising.
The PWP abides by the HHPN’s objectives and constitution, manages its own finances (audited by the HHPN) and reports on its activities at every HHPN General Meeting.
The programs created by the Paperbark Wellness Project all have one thing in common: they seek to bring people together. It is our firm belief that it is by working together within a group and feeling embraced by a community that we as individuals can achieve lasting change and reduce any feelings we may have of isolation and disconnection. It is our hope that through the work that we, and organisations and projects like us, do we will see a decline in the levels of anxiety, depression and suicide within our community.
A key part of our ethos is to collaborate with, and seek funding from, local individuals, community businesses and government bodies so that this is truly a community venture.
Why "paperbark"? The peeling layers of the paperbark tree are a visual representation of the many layers we have as individuals. They also symbolise the PWP’s multi-layered approach to addressing mental health issues.
